In Unreal Engine, we can use the Substance Plugin to work with SBSAR files. These files help us create textures in different ways and sizes using special methods.

I’ve made a simple Camouflage Generator using Substance Designer. It lets you make lots of different Camouflage Textures easily.

  • Activate Substance Plugin
  • Create a Graph Instance
  • Choose custom material (M_CamouflageMaster)
  • Open the created Graph Instance and change the parameters to generate a new camouflage texture. I suggest you to work on 512 px first. You can export up to 8K resolution later.
  • Select a pattern variation, this variations are predefined to simplify workflow
  • Randomize the pattern with pattern warp value
  • You can use the Randomize Seed button to randomize every value.
  • Change the colors
  • We define a few fabric textures on the normal map. Choose one of the predefined fabric normal or use your own normal map.
